Together for Alvarado is a community-based project determined to make Alvarado St. an even greater street. Alvarado St. between 7th and Wilshire is highly visited. The street provides direct access to the Westlake/MacArthur Park Metro Station, MacArthur Park, Street Vendors and the Community Market, Levitt Pavilion, the Metro 200 and so much more, making it a high density and priority street. Through online and in-person surveys, community events, and sticker voting, CCNP identified the top 4 priorities the community has for Alvarado St.: Trash, Lighting, Shade at transit stops, and a Mid-block crosswalk. With those results, CCNP created a short-term and long-term goal for Alvarado St, where the short-term goal incorporated the top priority changes the community wanted to see. Again, CCNP hosted community events and in-person online surveys to gather feedback. With over 800 votes in support of the short-term goal, it was clear that changes needed to be made on Alvarado St.
In February 2020, CCNP was informed that the Together for Alvarado Project was selected to receive funding to make the changes happen!! Things were paused because of the pandemic, but we are now ready for the final phase of this project. It is now time for you to select what colors and design you like regarding the changes that WILL happen on Alvarado St.
