Job Title: Food Security Program Assistant

Reports To: Learning Communities Program Manager

Salary: $18.00 per hour

Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week

Organizational/Program Background:

Central City Neighborhood Partners (CCNP) was established in 1994 and incorporated as a formal non-profit collaborative in 2000 to address socio-economic conditions impacting low-income families in Los Angeles, with a focus on Westlake and surrounding communities. CCNP’s mission is to catalyze partnerships to systematically tackle the challenges facing low-income families, helping them create pathways to financial security through the FamilySource Center (FSC) program and other initiatives.


Position Overview:

The Food Security Program Assistant will support the Food Security Program by securing and distributing perishable and non-perishable food. This role involves working collaboratively with volunteers to achieve program objectives. Key responsibilities include:

  • Preparing food bags for distribution to the community.
  • Greeting customers, checking IDs, and dispensing bags of food.
  • Collaborating with staff and volunteers on various tasks.
  • Arranging and monitoring sorting and shelf stocking.
  • Assisting with food pickups, unloading, and sorting.
  • Performing facility and equipment inspections related to the food pantry.
  • Maintaining safety standards in the workplace.
  • Standing, bending, and lifting up to 50 lbs as needed.
  • Communicating effectively in English and Spanish to serve diverse families.
  • Performing additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor and leadership.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • High School Diploma/GED and two years of general office experience; related coursework and certifications are encouraged.
  • Bilingual: ability to read, write, and speak in English and Spanish is required.
  • Operational knowledge of web-related technologies and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Other Requirements:

  • Successfully pass all post-offer pre-employment screenings, including a criminal background check.
  • Provide proof of eligibility to work in the U.S.
  • TB Certificate and full COVID-19 vaccination required.
  • Valid California driver’s license, liability insurance, and access to a reliable automobile.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to perform essential job functions satisfactorily; reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.
  • Approximately 50% of time is spent sitting; frequent walking, standing, and bending required.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds without assistance.
